"Neighbors bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between. Boo was our neighbor. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives. But neighbors give in return. We never put back into the tree what we took out of it: we had given him nothing, and it made me sad."

basketweave afghan
Summer wasn't the only one being crafty on the Big Island.
This is my waffle weave afghan that I started in Hawaii.
Most of the progress was made during our overnight tsunami watch and on the airplane.
Love the grey. Great color choice. I want to learn how to do that basket weave thing, only in frosting instead (sorry ---birthday cake tonight! got it on the brain). Like this: http://img4.myrecipes.com/i/recipes/sl/03142008/chocolate-cake-sl-257679-l.jpg
It actually doesn't look too hard, just time consuming.
