3 LDS casting calls

Summer went to this photo shoot for the New Era in May of 2012.
It was published in October 2013.
The Church Magazines have a publishing time of about 4-6 months after they shoot the photos.
6 tips for Scripture Study in the October 2012 New Era
and on LDS.ORG Youth Page.
(search: 6 tips for scripture study)

They told Summer to just wear regular school clothes.  She was wearing blue pants.
Ooops, the background is blue.
We sat there for a few minutes and waiting while an assistant ran across the street to H&M and bought an outfit for her to wear for the shoot.  Super cute.  Too bad she didn't get to keep it!!
(How convenient to be located just across the street from City Creek, apparently they do that on a regular basis.)

Funny story about this one...
Summer had just barely done her nails in the black and white houndstooth pattern.
It was a kit and it took a while and it looked cute.
The next day she got a call for this shoot.
When she got there, she found out that the picture would show her hands.
So, we spent like 15 minutes trying to get every drop of houndstooth pattern off her nails.
Apparently it was too "trendy".  I can see now that it would be a little distracting in this photo.

The (CM)2 Project.
This photo shoot was last fall (2012).

This was a New Era article for the "No Cussing" Project.
It appeared in the New Era in March 2013.
When we got to Salt Lake, we discovered that the girl that was scheduled with Summer was also from MMHS.
A video was also made for this story, but at a different time and location.
Summer wasn't part of the video.

It's always so interesting to see who shows up for these photo opportunities.
They are particular in making sure that a whole range of ethnicities/backgrounds are represented.

Reclaimed Video shoot in Provo.

Summer appears at about the 3 minute mark.  I love this video.

Larry's...

Some pictures of the original interior...after we cleaned it out...
Front bedroom.  There was carpet in here.  It was gross.

Living Room.  Originally built in 1936.  Fireplace section of the room was added later.

Bathroom.  Accessed by the door that was 5 foot 6 inches high.
Fine for me, not so good for most everyone else.  Including Rick.

Kitchen.

More Kitchen.

Then the demo begins...

Back Porch area.  The breaker box was once where the 2x4 is now.
Breaker box has now been relocated to the basement.

cabinets and appliances removed.

Front bed room.  The drywall has to come down...

Front bedroom after more cleaning.

Living Room, looking into kitchen.

Next up...removing the ceiling.  Lots of fun.  Still smells bad.
We'll take down ALL of the drywall/plaster stuff.
Including the ceiling and the insulation.
To make sure everything is sound and replace ALL drywall and insulation so that it will be efficient, pretty, and lovely smelling.

purple houndstooth

I'm pretty sure that this is my favorite quilt that I have ever made.
Summer helped me choose the color--it had to be purple.

Because Shelby's favorite color is purple.
Shelby has been a part of our family for the past year.

And she took care of our dog and wouldn't let me pay her.

So we made her a quilt for her birthday.

And so she would always remember how much we love her.

13 on Friday the 13th

Sierra turned 13 on Friday the 13th.
There was a lot going on that weekend.
On Friday, Sierra had an after school dance.  Homecoming Footballs game.
Saturday was the Homecoming dance.
And on Sunday we celebrated by having the whole fam damily over for food and fun.
Thanks for coming EVERYONE.
especially with such short notice.
It was great to see everyone and to sit in the shade and visit for a while.

Sierra celebrated a whole month of sugar-free, dairy-free, grain-free eating
with a very special homemade chocolate cake.  YUM!
And Huckleberry Ice Cream--Sierra's favorite.

Just as the evening was winding down...we looked up to the deck to see the kids with their mouths taped shut.
Seriously?  who came up with that?  and why didn't we think of it sooner?
Happy 13th Birthday to You, Sierra!  Hope it's a lucky year for you!
